"The picture here is the first batch of "Tightrope Walkers", B.b. Wolfe's third album, due for release Sept. 30th. Like many of my friends in the music world, i was a fan of his music before we became friends. B.B.'s lyrics are intense and personal, yet have the ability to strike the human chord within us all, which often reaches into the darker recesses of our psyche, and taps into the pain & frustrations we all encounter and endure in life. Through that, we are released, because we discover our humanity, compassion, and empathy. We are not alone in the lonlieness of despair or events that seem utterly tragic in our personal struggles. Without reservation, i would equate his lyrical gift to that of Dylan, Cohen, Waits. In short...it is powerful stuff. His previous efforts; "AKA" and (award winning) "Heart Worn Sleeve" were each mesmerizing and stunning efforts, of which any songwriter would be fortunate to have created just one album that fucking great in their catalog. Yet somehow, B.B. Wolfe continually bests himself at his own game, each CD successively topping the previous, and once again he has brought his bar higher yet. i was privileged enough to hear four or five tracks while the project was in development, and i believe this one is a monster of artistic achievment. You can catch BB LIVE at Quincy's this Friday September 29th...and i have it on good authority the new CD will be available. http://www.bbwolfemusic.com/." -monTe michel bleu

REVIEW FROM ROOTSTIME.BE (JUNE 2008 REVIEW) (translated from Dutch to English)

"Every so often one witnesses a small wonder. When suddenly you hold a musical gem in your hand, not knowing where the brilliance comes from. Is it the sensitive voice, serene and settled as if the heart is broken? Is it the atmospheric accompaniment of the Goldmine Pickers with fiddle, guitar, mandolin and banjo? Is it the lyrical texts that the melodies center around? Perhaps it is everything at once, but it is especially the singing style with the compelling voice of B.B. Wolfe..."

    1. Wolfe - Heart Worn Sleeve

It's not often I pop in a disc from an unfamiliar local performer and I'm not only thoroughly impressed, but I'm surprised almost to the point of being stunned. Mesmerizing, soothing vocals, combined with thoughtful superb writing. The voice is unique, but familiar, it recalls early Dylan of the basement tapes era, but there is more there, an additional warmth reminiscent of Greg Brown or Chris Smither. This is a honest CD, written and performed in the heartland with the unfettered Midwestern sensibilities of an artist possessing uncanny maturity for his sophomore release. I found myself listening to it over and over this afternoon. Highly recommended, one of my favorite CDs of 2008.- Steven Johnson Publisher MichiganFolkLive.com

b.b. wolfe was born in Flint, Michigan an orphan child. He grew, went through the public school system, then to college, became a visual artist, teacher and singer-songwriter.

In 2005 he released his first album, AKA, that was played worldwide on roots stations and now in 2008 he has released HEART WORN SLEEVE.

Three years have past since AKA hit the airwaves. In that time b.b. has traveled through the heart of American Roots music, from Avalon to the Appalachian's, with the ghost of Harry Smith as his guide.

In these nine songs on HEART WORN SLEEVE you will hear the longing that lays within the spaces of each note played and feel the footprints each one leave behind. Joining bb on HEART WORN SLEEVE is a group of young musicians’ who call themselves the Goldmine Pickers. They are Lukas Simpson, Jay Lapp, Sean Hoffman and Brian Cook, a great bunch of folk. Also, joining bb is Bruce Bartlett and MJ Bishop.

"Hi b.b.,

This Spring evening I had a glass of wine on the back deck and listened to all of your album HEART WORN SLEEVE for the first time just as music and not as sound. It is remarkable. Full of humanity, passion and poetry. Homespun Memories gently launches the album, as intricate and charming as a tiny music box. Winthrop's Lament is so powerful. It tells me a lot about your relationship with your adoptive father. The Bridge is just pulsing with passion. I love the image of the Mackinaw Bridge (which I have crossed many times), the sunset and your loving encounter with MJ. HEART WORN SLEEVE is totally captivating with its mysterious sound. Great stuff. Wow, BB, you created a masterpiece. I'm proud to have worked on it with you. bru"

quoting Bruce Bartlett (author of sound and recording)

"I've officially declared Heart Worn Sleeve as the definitive singer-songwriter album of 2008. Seriously man, you have something special going..."

This is music from the heart written from a lifetime of experiences with musicians who bring it home.

"b.b. wolfe's debut album "A.K.A." is a road trip through a landscape of fear, sadness, hope, and triumph. It makes you want to hop a freight train and explore the possiblilites of the world. This is traveling music. Not your typical country album, b.b.'s vocals are a mix between Arlo Guthrie and Bob Dylan. The lyrics are poetic and poignant. They strike a chord with the listener's soul- from the part that feels despair, to the part that still has hope. From the song "Broken Ladder" to "And All" the listener is treated to an album that feels both comfortable and familiar. Like a great work of art, the guitar paints the broad strokes, while the dobro, steel guitar, and harmonica add the details that make this album rich and layered. Reminiscent of country music before it went pop, this is music to live by." Carrie Smith - South Bend Tribune

"I caught Broken Ladder when I got home and called Al while it was on to request Suitcase Kid. And once again it broke me down into tears. You've got the gift. No other local singer songwriter can do what you do."

B.B. Wolfe- Guitar, Vocals, Harmonica., Bruce Bartlett- Bass., Dan Gellert- Banjo, Fiddle, Vocals., Jim Shenk- Pedal Steel, Dobro., John Kennedy, Mike Elliott, Jay Miller, Dan Gellert- Background Vocals.

"Security by BB Wolfe was awesome...I could really relate to it..I didn't know whether it made me happy or sad, because it was so true!."
